Chapter 9: Unit Conversions, Perimeter, Area, & Volume

This chapter provides a strong overview of two- and three-dimensional geometric topics. The chapter kicks off with lessons on units of measurement and how to convert between them. You will then find yourself learning about perimeters and areas of all kinds of shapes. The chapter concludes with a tour through solids or three-dimensional figures and excellent videos demonstrating how to find surface areas and volumes of many of these solids. You are about to enter the third dimension!

  • positive review  If you are looking for an SAT prep class, look no further. My son took Matt's course this past summer and was able to increase his score 100 points after taking the classes. Thank you, Matt for your help!

When multiple people from all different parts of your life compliment a teacher you have to think--how can this be? Is he for real? Is he really THAT good? So I was a little skeptical. NOT ANYMORE! Mr. Groden is the REAL DEAL! He truly loves teaching and he loves kids but most of all he loves to see kids succeed. And that's what he does. He makes kids perform better and reach their full potential. I highly recommend Matt's courses. My son just finished his SAT class and thoroughly enjoyed it (yes, he enjoyed a class---over the summer!) So what are you waiting for?? Sign your student up with Matt ASAP! Do not pass GO and do not COLLECT $200! This is real life people and Matt is the real deal!

Matt Groden is the best teacher, academic or otherwise, I've had the privilege of studying under. His passion and dedication to his craft as an educator allow him to take difficult subjects and make them somehow enjoyable. He challenges his students to rise to meet their challenge, and invests personally in their success. He possesses a unique gift to help students visualize and understand mathematical concepts and problems, in addition to the patience and commitment to make sure his students are prepared for what's coming their way. His lessons have impacted my college career in more ways than one, and I'm grateful. If you're looking for a math tutor, there's none better.

  • Mr. Groden came to our family's rescue not once...but twice. Both kids struggled in pre calc and we were fortunate to be put in touch with Mr. Groden. First Mr. Groden worked with my son in parallel pre calc and just recently he has helped my daughter in honors pre calc. Mr. Groden is able to really connect with his clients and explain math concepts in a way that my kids were able to understand. They both said "it clicked" and that's exactly what I wanted to hear. He took them from struggling to confident, with both kids ending out the course successfully (well...my daughter is nearing the end;).

I think it is clear to anyone who has worked with Mr. Groden that he has a very special ability to empower and inspire the youth, and to teach in ways that resonate for all. His patience, compassion, flexibility, and incredibly thorough understanding of the math combine to help students realize our greatest potential -- sometimes potential that we didn’t even know was there until he helped us find it. In addition to being an amazing teacher, he is a great role model and friend to anyone he meets. So easy to talk to, so caring, so kind -- the most genuine person. I would be doing a disservice to the community if I did not spread the world about the incredible opportunity to learn with him. 5million stars

positive review  Matt does a fantastic job of helping the students understand how to apply formulas and why they work! He never just has the students memorize formulas. My son really liked his approach and it helped that he made videos to refer to when he needed a refresher during the week. I would highly recommend his courses!

  • Mr Groden has the ability to make calculus (and math in general) fun, meaningful, relevant, etc. and to relate complex concepts in a way that not only makes sense, but also gives the students the ability to re-apply the concepts later on. Our son had Mr. Groden as his calculus teacher in high school, and our daughter has now used Mr. Groden's services for both SAT prep and AB Calculus weekly review. Both have been excellent and more than worth the money spent.

Matt Groden is a truly innovative Math Teacher. He makes the word of mathematics real, exciting, and meaningful. When a student becomes excited about mathematics, it makes learning almost second nature. I expect nothing but good things to come from the Groden Math Academy. His students will be the fortunate ones.

My daughter had a great experience in Mr. Groden's SAT prep class. We had been searching for an effective affordable option and this in person class was just the right choice!! Excellent follow up and communication of expectations each week prior to class helped the kids keep on track. It also helped me know what was covered and what was expected of her. Nice work! I highly recommend!

  • My daughter loved working with Matt through his Middle School Math Foundations course. She was apprehensive to take Math for fun over the summer alongside her other activities but absolutely loved Matts approach to teaching! She is sad to see it end but is looking forward to continuing with him throughout her education! Highly recommend Matt to all my friends and family out there!

I cannot say enough about Matt Groden. My son attended his AP Calc review course last summer. Mr. Goden's enthusiam for math was infectious to my son. He completed the course and had such a renewed excitement for math that I had not seen in quite a while. My son always loved math, but that love slightly diminished over the past two years. My son was now genuinly excited to start math class in September. As a bonus, currently he not only loves his course but he is doing great! Thank you Mr. Groden! You willingness to always go the extra mile and the kindness you exhibit towards your students is priceless.
