Chapter 4: Divisibility, Factoring Numbers, & Fractions

This chapter takes you through many investigations involving properties of numbers. The journey begins with divisibility and exponents before going onto rocking how to find factors of numbers and using these factors to simplify fractions. You will then jump into some very cool lessons involving mixed numbers and improper fractions and using the Least Common Multiple to boost your fraction skills. The chapter rounds out nicely with seeing how to go between decimals and fractions before getting a small taste of the very radical concept of square roots! Time to dive into a healthy serving of numbers and their inner workings!!!

  • positive review  Thank you for offering these summer courses. I think it is important to keep up the skills over the summer and not get summer brain. You also have a wonderful teaching style which i know my daughter appreciates.

If you are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who makes understanding math easy then look no further. Matt came to our rescue when my daughter was struggling in AP Calculus BC. Not only was he able to boost her grade to an A, she also scored a 5 on her AP exam for both Calculus AB and BC. Also, My son went to his SAT class over the summer and after every class he said how much he enjoyed Matt and was excited about what he learned. I will continue to give Matt the highest recommendation which is rare for me since I am a math teacher myself. He is excellent!

  • Matt Groden is a truly innovative Math Teacher. He makes the word of mathematics real, exciting, and meaningful. When a student becomes excited about mathematics, it makes learning almost second nature. I expect nothing but good things to come from the Groden Math Academy. His students will be the fortunate ones.

My daughter was fortunate to have Mr. Groden for both AP Calc AB and BC and she rocked both classes and the AP exam. Now a college junior she's already sailed though Calc 4 and we attribute her success to the foundation she received from Mr. Groden. He loves teaching and motivating his students and that enthusiasm radiates through everything he does.

  • Matt Groden was a fantastic SAT tutor for my boys. They were very reluctant to have help, but he was able to immediately win them over because of both his knowledge and confidence. The test-taking skills they learned from him definitely helped them approach the test calmly and with confidence, and their scores reflected that. I would absolutely recommend Matt to help your child with math or SAT prep. He clearly loves teaching math and knows how to do so!

  • My daughter (who usually gets straight A's) was struggling in Pre-Calculus with a D+ current grade. After tutoring with Mr. Grodan, she got an A on her final and ended up passing the class with a B. I recommend his services to anyone who is struggling with math.

  • positive review  My youngest son took the Algebra 1 course to keep up his skills during summer and loved it. My oldest son had Matt for AP Calculus a few years ago and loved it. Matt Groden is a fun, patient, pleasant, very effective teacher who shows your child how to understand and love math, not dread it!

Matt - is an amazing teacher - his method of communication in order to ensure a complete understanding of the concepts was clearly reflected in my son's test scores once he started working with Matt - it was instantaneous. We were blessed to get terrific recommendations for Matt and he jumped in and my son loved working with Matt. I would recommend him to anyone and hope to continue to work with him remotely for college calc.

  • Matt cannot be more highly recommended as a math tutor or teacher. His ability to explain difficult concepts in an easy to understand fashion is phenomenal. The enthusiasm he displays is contagious and allows the student to become more actively engaged. He always tries to relate the topics to areas of interest and works hard to make a personal connection.

positive review  Matt does a fantastic job of helping the students understand how to apply formulas and why they work! He never just has the students memorize formulas. My son really liked his approach and it helped that he made videos to refer to when he needed a refresher during the week. I would highly recommend his courses!

  • My daughter had a great experience in Mr. Groden's SAT prep class. We had been searching for an effective affordable option and this in person class was just the right choice!! Excellent follow up and communication of expectations each week prior to class helped the kids keep on track. It also helped me know what was covered and what was expected of her. Nice work! I highly recommend!

positive review  Matt truly cares about each student. My son took his SAT prep course and his math section increased 90 points. There was great communication after each course session as the teachers would email what was covered, what to do next, and an overview of future class. He was always there to answer any question my son ( and I) had.
