Chapter 12: Two-Step Equations and Inequalities

This final chapter provides a brief link to some of the topics you will see covered in greater depth in Pre-Algebra. You will build on your understanding of solving one-step equations to learn how to rock solving two-step equations and why the solution processes work. You will close out the chapter with an exploration into inequalities involving variables and solving & graphing some one-step inequalities. You are far greater than the challenges found in these topics!!

  • Mr. Groden really helped me learn the subject of geometry very well. He related certain topics to the interest of the student which helped a lot. The pointers he gave for study habits were definitely very helpful and I would recommend Mr. Groden to anybody.

I think it is clear to anyone who has worked with Mr. Groden that he has a very special ability to empower and inspire the youth, and to teach in ways that resonate for all. His patience, compassion, flexibility, and incredibly thorough understanding of the math combine to help students realize our greatest potential -- sometimes potential that we didn’t even know was there until he helped us find it. In addition to being an amazing teacher, he is a great role model and friend to anyone he meets. So easy to talk to, so caring, so kind -- the most genuine person. I would be doing a disservice to the community if I did not spread the world about the incredible opportunity to learn with him. 5million stars

  • positive review  Thank you for offering these summer courses. I think it is important to keep up the skills over the summer and not get summer brain. You also have a wonderful teaching style which i know my daughter appreciates.

positive review  Matt does a fantastic job of helping the students understand how to apply formulas and why they work! He never just has the students memorize formulas. My son really liked his approach and it helped that he made videos to refer to when he needed a refresher during the week. I would highly recommend his courses!

  • Matt cannot be more highly recommended as a math tutor or teacher. His ability to explain difficult concepts in an easy to understand fashion is phenomenal. The enthusiasm he displays is contagious and allows the student to become more actively engaged. He always tries to relate the topics to areas of interest and works hard to make a personal connection.

Matt helped my daughter prepare for a test last minute when another tutor canceled only a few hours before the session! You can tell Matt genuinely cares about the students success. We hope to enroll in one of his summer sessions and SAT prep courses. Thanks again, Matt!

  • Matt Groden is the best teacher, academic or otherwise, I've had the privilege of studying under. His passion and dedication to his craft as an educator allow him to take difficult subjects and make them somehow enjoyable. He challenges his students to rise to meet their challenge, and invests personally in their success. He possesses a unique gift to help students visualize and understand mathematical concepts and problems, in addition to the patience and commitment to make sure his students are prepared for what's coming their way. His lessons have impacted my college career in more ways than one, and I'm grateful. If you're looking for a math tutor, there's none better.

  • positive review  I can't say enough good things about Mr. Groden! He has helped my son so much. My son fights working with tutors but Mr. Groden did an excellent job pairing with my son and making him feel comfortable with him. He really understands the areas that my son struggles with and helps him in those areas while at the same time giving my son positive feedback and encouraging him. It gives me peace of mind knowing that with Mr. Groden's help my son will do well and grow and learn and be successful in his math classes!

positive review  It was like divine intervention when my son ASKED me (I know right??) if he could take a class leading up to honors Algebra 2 in the Fall. That same day I came across Matt’s summer offerings. Matt was the perfect teacher - engaging, passionate and fun - and my son really enjoyed taking his class (ENJOYED math in the summer? I know right?). THANK YOU MATT!! He’s ready 👍

  • My daughter was fortunate to have Mr. Groden for both AP Calc AB and BC and she rocked both classes and the AP exam. Now a college junior she's already sailed though Calc 4 and we attribute her success to the foundation she received from Mr. Groden. He loves teaching and motivating his students and that enthusiasm radiates through everything he does.

I took a Calc. 2 class at BCCC this semester and we missed 3 weeks of class due to snow, meaning my professor had to condence the material and breeze by a lot of important concepts. If it hadn't been for Matt there is no way I would've passed the course. He presented everything in a clear, comprehensive, and easy to understand way that I've never really experienced before and I did really well because of it. He took the time to explain everything, answered all of my questions and made sure that I was keeping up with him every step of the. He's a genuine guy who really wants you to learn and enjoys teaching. I highly recommend him for anyone who is struggling with their course work, you'll never make a better investment.

  • I cannot say enough about Matt Groden. My son attended his AP Calc review course last summer. Mr. Goden's enthusiam for math was infectious to my son. He completed the course and had such a renewed excitement for math that I had not seen in quite a while. My son always loved math, but that love slightly diminished over the past two years. My son was now genuinly excited to start math class in September. As a bonus, currently he not only loves his course but he is doing great! Thank you Mr. Groden! You willingness to always go the extra mile and the kindness you exhibit towards your students is priceless.

If you are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who makes understanding math easy then look no further. Matt came to our rescue when my daughter was struggling in AP Calculus BC. Not only was he able to boost her grade to an A, she also scored a 5 on her AP exam for both Calculus AB and BC. Also, My son went to his SAT class over the summer and after every class he said how much he enjoyed Matt and was excited about what he learned. I will continue to give Matt the highest recommendation which is rare for me since I am a math teacher myself. He is excellent!

positive review  My youngest son took the Algebra 1 course to keep up his skills during summer and loved it. My oldest son had Matt for AP Calculus a few years ago and loved it. Matt Groden is a fun, patient, pleasant, very effective teacher who shows your child how to understand and love math, not dread it!
