Chapter 8 – Advanced Integration Techniques and Improper Integrals

This chapter begins with tricky yet neat manipulations of integrands to make integrating those very difficult functions much easier.  From there, it is off to learn all about a staple in Calculus 2 / BC, integration by parts.  Next, you will learn how to integrate by partial fraction decomposition – sounds fancy…it’s just fun!  Then you will master the art of using trigonometric identities and some nifty manipulations to solve trigonometric integrals.  The second to last lesson is all about trigonometric substitution taught in a way you can understand!  This chapter on integration wraps up with a thorough study of improper integrals.  What are you waiting for?  Get integrating!

  • 5 star review  Matt’s excitement for learning boosted my sons confidence. He showed him ways to solve problems and feel confident. That in itself is amazing. I highly recommend Matt. No doubt your child’s grade or SATs will soar.

5 star review  My son took the SAT prep class. It was a great class with fantastic instruction strategies and top notch teachers who clearly know their stuff. They made the class fun and motivated my son to do the required out-of-class practice. His scores on the practice tests consistently improved. We would absolutely recommend this class!

  • positive review  I can't say enough good things about Mr. Groden! He has helped my son so much. My son fights working with tutors but Mr. Groden did an excellent job pairing with my son and making him feel comfortable with him. He really understands the areas that my son struggles with and helps him in those areas while at the same time giving my son positive feedback and encouraging him. It gives me peace of mind knowing that with Mr. Groden's help my son will do well and grow and learn and be successful in his math classes!

  • 5 star review  Matt Groden is by far the best math instructor around!!! He has a passion for math and it shows through his ability to break down any math problem, no matter how complicated, into a simple form the student can understand. He is kind, easy going and most importantly, he truly cares about his students.

5 star review  Because he was in this class, my son spent more time doing SAT practice tests this summer than he otherwise would have. I didn't have to "nag" him to do practice tests...so, I appreciate that! He ended up knowing alot of the kids in the class, so he enjoyed it. It was also nice to do this in the summer when his schedule was less-busy. The teachers are high energy, well-respected and admired by the kids.

  • 5 star review  After class with Mr. Groden, I felt more than prepared for my exams. In class, we had covered every type of problem we could expect to see and received ample explanation of its solution. On the day of the test, I was calm knowing Mr. Groden had prepared me well for any problem that could be on the exam. In addition to giving me confidence going into one of the most difficult exams I had taken, Mr. Groden gave me a deeper appreciation and understanding of mathematics. He gave me the ability to visualize complex concepts more than any other teach I had and problem solving techniques that I continue to use. Beyond being ready for my exams, I was ready to understand more difficult math in high school and college.

positive review  Matt does a fantastic job of helping the students understand how to apply formulas and why they work! He never just has the students memorize formulas. My son really liked his approach and it helped that he made videos to refer to when he needed a refresher during the week. I would highly recommend his courses!

  • 5 star review  When multiple people from all different parts of your life compliment a teacher you have to think--how can this be? Is he for real? Is he really THAT good? So I was a little skeptical. NOT ANYMORE! Mr. Groden is the REAL DEAL! He truly loves teaching and he loves kids but most of all he loves to see kids succeed. And that's what he does. He makes kids perform better and reach their full potential. I highly recommend Matt's courses. My son just finished his SAT class and thoroughly enjoyed it (yes, he enjoyed a class---over the summer!) So what are you waiting for?? Sign your student up with Matt ASAP! Do not pass GO and do not COLLECT $200! This is real life people and Matt is the real deal!

5 star review  Matt has helped my son immensely in preparing both for the SATs and the AP Calculus BC exam. He has a way of explaining and teaching math that kept my son excited and energized to learn more. My son did extremely well on his SATs and was strong in Calculus, all thanks to Matt and his care for his students. If you are need for math help for your child, look no further!

positive review  I had Matt Groden for AP Calculus and I have to say, he was and probably will be the greatest teacher I ever had. Not only was he exceptional in terms of his teaching ability and breadth of knowledge, but it is his care for learning was what made him unique. This was the first teacher in a long time that I can remember who valued learning and discovery over just memorizing and ‘teaching to the test’. His ability to make students excited to learn new math material is what makes Matt so perfectly suited for this. Anyone with the chance to learn math with him should most definitely take this opportunity - you will not be disappointed!!

  • 5 star review  My daughter was fortunate to have Mr. Groden for both AP Calc AB and BC and she rocked both classes and the AP exam. Now a college junior she's already sailed though Calc 4 and we attribute her success to the foundation she received from Mr. Groden. He loves teaching and motivating his students and that enthusiasm radiates through everything he does.

  • 5 star review  Matt Groden is a truly innovative Math Teacher. He makes the word of mathematics real, exciting, and meaningful. When a student becomes excited about mathematics, it makes learning almost second nature. I expect nothing but good things to come from the Groden Math Academy. His students will be the fortunate ones.

5 star review  Mr Groden has the ability to make calculus (and math in general) fun, meaningful, relevant, etc. and to relate complex concepts in a way that not only makes sense, but also gives the students the ability to re-apply the concepts later on. Our son had Mr. Groden as his calculus teacher in high school, and our daughter has now used Mr. Groden's services for both SAT prep and AB Calculus weekly review. Both have been excellent and more than worth the money spent.

  • 5 star review  I cannot say enough about Matt Groden. My son attended his AP Calc review course last summer. Mr. Goden's enthusiam for math was infectious to my son. He completed the course and had such a renewed excitement for math that I had not seen in quite a while. My son always loved math, but that love slightly diminished over the past two years. My son was now genuinly excited to start math class in September. As a bonus, currently he not only loves his course but he is doing great! Thank you Mr. Groden! You willingness to always go the extra mile and the kindness you exhibit towards your students is priceless.

5 star review  Mr. Groden is passionate about teaching and leading his student to success. My son took his SAT prep course and he had nothing but praise for Mr. Groden. Not only is he a great teacher, but his students like and respect him and therefore are eager to learn. Every time I picked my son up from the class he had something positive to say. I would recommend Mr. Groden's tutoring or SAT Prep to anyone looking for real results from an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher.

  • 5 star review  I think it is clear to anyone who has worked with Mr. Groden that he has a very special ability to empower and inspire the youth, and to teach in ways that resonate for all. His patience, compassion, flexibility, and incredibly thorough understanding of the math combine to help students realize our greatest potential -- sometimes potential that we didn’t even know was there until he helped us find it. In addition to being an amazing teacher, he is a great role model and friend to anyone he meets. So easy to talk to, so caring, so kind -- the most genuine person. I would be doing a disservice to the community if I did not spread the world about the incredible opportunity to learn with him. 5million stars
