Chapter 13: Data Analysis: Techniques and Calculations

This chapter visits many ways you can represent real-world data with mathematics. The tour of knowledge begins with a thorough lesson on Mean, Median, Mode, Range, and Outliers. From there you will master how to construct and analyze Box-and-Whisker Plots before making Frequency Tables and Line Plots. You will learn how to make and interpret Histograms and then accomplish the same goals with Stem-and-Leaf Plots. Your learning excursion through Data Analysis rounds out nicely with the study of how to make Bar and Line Graphs. Jump into some very cool data analysis techniques!!

  • 5 star review  Seriously a hero. I was struggling to pass the Praxis Core math section and he was great and fast with setting up a good time to meet and really helped me nail concepts that I needed. I highly recommend meeting with Matt if you feel yourself struggling in any area of math! Thank you again!

5 star review  I was lucky enough to have Mr. Groden as my teacher for two classes throughout high school. In school, math was never my strong suite but Mr. Groden was able to use real life examples that pertained to myself that helped me with understanding the math. After a couple of years, I started attending Rider University where I studied Business. I hadn't been in a math class in years so when I found out that I had to take Quantitative Methods for Business, I knew that I was in trouble. After receiving my first test and seeing that I received a low C, I reached out to Mr. Groden to see if he were doing any tutoring and surly enough he was. Mr. Groden met with me once a week and again was able to use real life examples that pertained to myself and I was able to understand the math. I ended the semester receiving an A in the class, and I know 100% I would not have reached that without Mr. Grodens help. Thank you!

  • 5 star review  Mr. Groden came to our family's rescue not once...but twice. Both kids struggled in pre calc and we were fortunate to be put in touch with Mr. Groden. First Mr. Groden worked with my son in parallel pre calc and just recently he has helped my daughter in honors pre calc. Mr. Groden is able to really connect with his clients and explain math concepts in a way that my kids were able to understand. They both said "it clicked" and that's exactly what I wanted to hear. He took them from struggling to confident, with both kids ending out the course successfully (well...my daughter is nearing the end;).

  • 5 star review  Matt has helped my son immensely in preparing both for the SATs and the AP Calculus BC exam. He has a way of explaining and teaching math that kept my son excited and energized to learn more. My son did extremely well on his SATs and was strong in Calculus, all thanks to Matt and his care for his students. If you are need for math help for your child, look no further!

positive review  It was like divine intervention when my son ASKED me (I know right??) if he could take a class leading up to honors Algebra 2 in the Fall. That same day I came across Matt’s summer offerings. Matt was the perfect teacher - engaging, passionate and fun - and my son really enjoyed taking his class (ENJOYED math in the summer? I know right?). THANK YOU MATT!! He’s ready 👍

  • 5 star review  Because he was in this class, my son spent more time doing SAT practice tests this summer than he otherwise would have. I didn't have to "nag" him to do practice tests...so, I appreciate that! He ended up knowing alot of the kids in the class, so he enjoyed it. It was also nice to do this in the summer when his schedule was less-busy. The teachers are high energy, well-respected and admired by the kids.

5 star review  Matt Groden is a truly innovative Math Teacher. He makes the word of mathematics real, exciting, and meaningful. When a student becomes excited about mathematics, it makes learning almost second nature. I expect nothing but good things to come from the Groden Math Academy. His students will be the fortunate ones.

  • positive review  Matt does a fantastic job of helping the students understand how to apply formulas and why they work! He never just has the students memorize formulas. My son really liked his approach and it helped that he made videos to refer to when he needed a refresher during the week. I would highly recommend his courses!

5 star review  Matt cannot be more highly recommended as a math tutor or teacher. His ability to explain difficult concepts in an easy to understand fashion is phenomenal. The enthusiasm he displays is contagious and allows the student to become more actively engaged. He always tries to relate the topics to areas of interest and works hard to make a personal connection.

  • 5 star review  I cannot say enough about Matt Groden. My son attended his AP Calc review course last summer. Mr. Goden's enthusiam for math was infectious to my son. He completed the course and had such a renewed excitement for math that I had not seen in quite a while. My son always loved math, but that love slightly diminished over the past two years. My son was now genuinly excited to start math class in September. As a bonus, currently he not only loves his course but he is doing great! Thank you Mr. Groden! You willingness to always go the extra mile and the kindness you exhibit towards your students is priceless.

5 star review  My daughter had a great experience in Mr. Groden's SAT prep class. We had been searching for an effective affordable option and this in person class was just the right choice!! Excellent follow up and communication of expectations each week prior to class helped the kids keep on track. It also helped me know what was covered and what was expected of her. Nice work! I highly recommend!

  • 5 star review  My daughter (who usually gets straight A's) was struggling in Pre-Calculus with a D+ current grade. After tutoring with Mr. Grodan, she got an A on her final and ended up passing the class with a B. I recommend his services to anyone who is struggling with math.

positive review  Thank you for offering these summer courses. I think it is important to keep up the skills over the summer and not get summer brain. You also have a wonderful teaching style which i know my daughter appreciates.

  • 5 star review  Mr. Groden is passionate about teaching and leading his student to success. My son took his SAT prep course and he had nothing but praise for Mr. Groden. Not only is he a great teacher, but his students like and respect him and therefore are eager to learn. Every time I picked my son up from the class he had something positive to say. I would recommend Mr. Groden's tutoring or SAT Prep to anyone looking for real results from an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher.

5 star review  I took a Calc. 2 class at BCCC this semester and we missed 3 weeks of class due to snow, meaning my professor had to condence the material and breeze by a lot of important concepts. If it hadn't been for Matt there is no way I would've passed the course. He presented everything in a clear, comprehensive, and easy to understand way that I've never really experienced before and I did really well because of it. He took the time to explain everything, answered all of my questions and made sure that I was keeping up with him every step of the. He's a genuine guy who really wants you to learn and enjoys teaching. I highly recommend him for anyone who is struggling with their course work, you'll never make a better investment.

  • 5 star review  My son thoroughly enjoyed taking Matt’s summer enrichment pre-calc class. He is a positive upbeat teacher who makes math fun! I would encourage any parent interested in keeping their child engaged in learning to register! He provided my child with renewed excitement in a subject for which he was losing enthusiasm. He had an amazing experience!

5 star review  My son was struggling in Calculus. He lost all confidence and felt there was no way he could pass his class. With Matt's help my son started understanding his work and gained confidence. Matt made learning exciting and fun. We owe so much to Matt's amazing ability to do whatever it takes to help his students. There is no one better than Matt!
