Chapter 11: Introduction to Rational Expressions

This chapter sets you up beautifully for a deep study of Rational Expressions in Algebra 2 and beyond! Please make sure you can rock multiplying and factoring polynomials in Algebra 1 Chapter 9 before crushing this chapter. Your path begins with learning what rational expressions are and how to simplify them. The connections to basic fraction operations are made throughout. You will then become a titan at multiplying and dividing rational expressions before closing out the chapter in style by learning to add and subtract rational expressions. It may be a short party in this chapter, but it is a fun and worthwhile one!! Let’s go!

5 star review  My daughter loved working with Matt through his Middle School Math Foundations course. She was apprehensive to take Math for fun over the summer alongside her other activities but absolutely loved Matts approach to teaching! She is sad to see it end but is looking forward to continuing with him throughout her education! Highly recommend Matt to all my friends and family out there!

  • 5 star review  Mr. Groden really helped me learn the subject of geometry very well. He related certain topics to the interest of the student which helped a lot. The pointers he gave for study habits were definitely very helpful and I would recommend Mr. Groden to anybody.

  • 5 star review  Matt Groden is a truly innovative Math Teacher. He makes the word of mathematics real, exciting, and meaningful. When a student becomes excited about mathematics, it makes learning almost second nature. I expect nothing but good things to come from the Groden Math Academy. His students will be the fortunate ones.

  • 5 star review  Matt - is an amazing teacher - his method of communication in order to ensure a complete understanding of the concepts was clearly reflected in my son's test scores once he started working with Matt - it was instantaneous. We were blessed to get terrific recommendations for Matt and he jumped in and my son loved working with Matt. I would recommend him to anyone and hope to continue to work with him remotely for college calc.

5 star review  Mr. Groden came to our family's rescue not once...but twice. Both kids struggled in pre calc and we were fortunate to be put in touch with Mr. Groden. First Mr. Groden worked with my son in parallel pre calc and just recently he has helped my daughter in honors pre calc. Mr. Groden is able to really connect with his clients and explain math concepts in a way that my kids were able to understand. They both said "it clicked" and that's exactly what I wanted to hear. He took them from struggling to confident, with both kids ending out the course successfully (well...my daughter is nearing the end;).

  • positive review  I can't say enough good things about Mr. Groden! He has helped my son so much. My son fights working with tutors but Mr. Groden did an excellent job pairing with my son and making him feel comfortable with him. He really understands the areas that my son struggles with and helps him in those areas while at the same time giving my son positive feedback and encouraging him. It gives me peace of mind knowing that with Mr. Groden's help my son will do well and grow and learn and be successful in his math classes!

5 star review  Because he was in this class, my son spent more time doing SAT practice tests this summer than he otherwise would have. I didn't have to "nag" him to do practice tests...so, I appreciate that! He ended up knowing alot of the kids in the class, so he enjoyed it. It was also nice to do this in the summer when his schedule was less-busy. The teachers are high energy, well-respected and admired by the kids.

  • positive review  My youngest son took the Algebra 1 course to keep up his skills during summer and loved it. My oldest son had Matt for AP Calculus a few years ago and loved it. Matt Groden is a fun, patient, pleasant, very effective teacher who shows your child how to understand and love math, not dread it!

5 star review  My daughter was fortunate to have Mr. Groden for both AP Calc AB and BC and she rocked both classes and the AP exam. Now a college junior she's already sailed though Calc 4 and we attribute her success to the foundation she received from Mr. Groden. He loves teaching and motivating his students and that enthusiasm radiates through everything he does.

5 star review  Matt has helped my son immensely in preparing both for the SATs and the AP Calculus BC exam. He has a way of explaining and teaching math that kept my son excited and energized to learn more. My son did extremely well on his SATs and was strong in Calculus, all thanks to Matt and his care for his students. If you are need for math help for your child, look no further!

5 star review  Matt Groden was a fantastic SAT tutor for my boys. They were very reluctant to have help, but he was able to immediately win them over because of both his knowledge and confidence. The test-taking skills they learned from him definitely helped them approach the test calmly and with confidence, and their scores reflected that. I would absolutely recommend Matt to help your child with math or SAT prep. He clearly loves teaching math and knows how to do so!

5 star review  I was lucky enough to have Mr. Groden as my teacher for two classes throughout high school. In school, math was never my strong suite but Mr. Groden was able to use real life examples that pertained to myself that helped me with understanding the math. After a couple of years, I started attending Rider University where I studied Business. I hadn't been in a math class in years so when I found out that I had to take Quantitative Methods for Business, I knew that I was in trouble. After receiving my first test and seeing that I received a low C, I reached out to Mr. Groden to see if he were doing any tutoring and surly enough he was. Mr. Groden met with me once a week and again was able to use real life examples that pertained to myself and I was able to understand the math. I ended the semester receiving an A in the class, and I know 100% I would not have reached that without Mr. Grodens help. Thank you!

He is extremely knowledgeable and has a different perspective on teaching math the the kids really get excited about. I don't think I have met anyone more enthusiastic about math, ever. It's inspiring for the kids to work with someone that truly loves teaching math!
